Weather in Florence is generally mild but it is located in a valley with hills all around. Here we offer an overview of what the average temperatures in Florence are all year round. The climate in Florence is typically Mediterranean, with high temperatures and sunny days in the summer and colder, damper weather in the winter. July and August are usually very hot and temperatures tend to stay around 30°C for much of this time. Florence's low seasons tends to fall between April to June and September to October. In the spring and autumn temperatures are at their most comfortable and pleasant.
The weather can prove unpredictable from November to February, when the city is at its most quiet, although it is generally fairly mild with plenty of sunshine. There can be heavy rain and occasional icy winds, so be sure to bring a warm overcoat, scarf and gloves.

Florence enjoys a humid, subtropical climate. Summers are hot and muggy with temperatures overriding those along the coast. Relief rainfall prevails in the winter with cool to cold temperatures and occasional snow.

If you are planning to visit outdoor locations, water-resistant boots or shoes with a good grip are recommended as the pavements can get very wet after heavy rain, and an umbrella can be a useful item to carry.

The best times of the year to go to Florence are from late April through early June. Like Rome, late September and early October are the best times to go in fall, although you can expect about 9 days of rain in October. Still, it's the time of wine harvest festivals and the start of the winter white truffle season is usually early November, so you can't be afraid of a little drizzle.
In July and August, the streets of Florence will reflect the heat, and Fiorentines will head out to the hills and lakes. Fiesole is a popular destination, as it sits on a hill where, if the skies are clear, you can peer down upon Florence.

Florence is the true home of classical art, its well worn cobbled streets tramped by the likes of Michelangelo, Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci who lived and worked here under the patronage of the powerful ruling Medici family. Today those who holiday in Florence are awestruck by the architectural beauty of the city.

Florence is a city of many layers, Florence is at once an over-run tourist magnet and a living, breathing medieval city that is home to proud Florentines. Stomping ground of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Dante, and Machiavelli, its cultural importance can't be overstated. It is home to three of the world's most renowned museums: the Uffizi, L'Accademia, and the Bargello, and boasts an incredible number of important churches, which house equally important master works. Sights such as the Ponte Vecchio, the Boboli Gardens, the Pitti Palace, and Giotto's duomo are but a few of the city's many offerings. A walker's city, the center of Florence is a compact labyrinth of alleys and piazze. Comfortable shoes are a must! Rent your own Florence apartment in the historic center to explore the myriad shops, museums and charming restaurants.

Duomo of Florence
To experience this art-rich neighborhood, it's best to walk out your Florence rental apartment and just meander. Almost everywhere you look---from Piazza Antinori to San Lorenzo---there is something dazzling to behold. Dominating the center of this zone is the spectacular Santa Maria del Fiore. At the time of their completion, the church and its world-famous dome established Renaissance architecture, and Brunelleschi, as a force. While exploring the tiny streets off the piazza you can almost imagine what Florence must have been like in Dante's time. Whether you're a history buff or power shopper, gelato aficionado or daydreamer, this area has it all. Santa Croce Florence
Mecca for art history buffs, Santa Croce is home to the Uffizi Gallery, which houses a mind boggling array of works by such artists as Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Bacchus, Botticelli, Raphael, Giotto, and many more. The Ponte Vecchio is also not to be missed while enjoying a Florence rental apartment. Famous for its jewelry and antique shops, the bridge offers no end of temptation---particularly for those of us with a thing for gold. A tourist destination in the hopping summer months, the Ponte Vecchio is at its most sublimely beautiful at Christmas: a red carpet stretches the length of the bridge, and lights twinkle overhead. Our Florence apartment rentals in Santa Croce are sure to delight. Apartment Rentals Florence Vacation Accommodation.

Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance. It is home to some of the greatest thinkers of that time period, if not all of history. Francesco Petrarch, Dante, Galileo Galilei, Nicolo Machiavelli, The Medici, Giovanni Boccaccio, Michelangelo Buonarotti to name only a few. The city is full of museums including the Accademia which houses the statue of David; the Uffizi which holds thousands of Renaissance and earlier treasures. One can merely walk and admire the famous architecture lining the streets, much of which was created in the Middle Ages or the Renaissance. The famous Arno river runs through the middle of the great city and provides a beautiful view, especially of the Ponte Vecchio, which is the only bridge that remained standing after World War II.

Florence is also home to the European Univeristy Institute, the European research institute set up by the European Commission. From there, or further up from Fiesole, the view is magnificent! Especially by sunset. Piazzale Michelangelo is also recommended for a nice sunset.
